And now the news...

Saturday 18th July 2009

The annual Severnside Strongman novice competition / Britain's Strongest Woman event (sponsored and supported by the Whey Consortium (see banner this site) enjoyed one of it's best turnouts to date.

Of the 30 male and 7 female athletes competing they ended up with 25 and 4. The slightly over cast weather held off it's threatened rain (more or less) to literally minutes after the tropies hand been handed out.

The score sheet (see below or go here for a close up: http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/354/scoresheet.jpg shows that Colin Hawkins won the male event on countback while Gemma Taylor reqained her former Britain's Strongest Woman title after several years out (having a baby, marrying, etc) thus proving she'd lost nothing while she'd been away.

Here Colin is presented with his trophy by Laurence Shahlaie (training at the WC HQ) and also this years UKSC England's Strongest Man.

And here's....... GEMMA! (with little Benny)
